WHOIS Lookup

Check the registrar, key dates, status and nameservers of any domain. Free, instant, runs in your browser.

How it works

This tool queries RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the structured successor to WHOIS. Enter a domain and you get its registrar, registration and expiration dates, current status codes and nameservers — the same data domain investors use to spot names that are about to drop.

Why WHOIS matters for expired domains

The expiration date tells you when a domain may become available. Combined with its age and authority, it helps you judge whether an expired domain is worth grabbing.

Frequently asked questions

What is a WHOIS lookup?

A WHOIS lookup returns the registration details of a domain — its registrar, creation and expiration dates, status and nameservers.

Does this WHOIS tool work for every TLD?

It uses RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS. Most gTLDs and many ccTLDs are covered. A few smaller registries do not expose RDAP yet.

How do I know if a domain is about to expire?

Check the "Expires" date. Domains that expired and were not renewed eventually drop and become available — that is what expired-domain hunters watch for.
